MicroSilicon has new position open as Product Deployment Engineer

HOUSTON, TEXAS, Jan 3, '22 — MicroSilicon has completed field test of an award-winning electro-mechanical device that allows operators to reduce the cost of getting oil out of the ground and optimize the amount of chemical needed to assure production. The device combines quantum chemistry with radio-frequency resonators and strong magnets. We now need to further ruggedize this Quantum RF* device and bring the device to a commercial status that will drastically minimize the need for onsite maintenance. To ensure this initiative will be a success, we are creating a dedicated position based in Houston, TX.
Your initial task will be to create an upgraded system that can automatically retrieve crude oil samples from production systems without need of human intervention and transfer that oil to the resonator. The position will require knowledge of surface hardware used in the oilfield and methods to avoid clogging from asphaltene and other contaminants. Robotic solutions are under consideration as well as materials immune to deposition, self-cleaning filters, solvent tanks, pumps, etc. Once the system is developed, you will be in charge of rolling it out to local field engineers in the Middle East, Offshore Gulf-of-Mexico and beyond. You will need excellent communication skills to ensure that those teams are fully trained and that all issues they find are communicated back to engineering support in Houston. You will also need to be fully capable of configuring the measurement system and able to advise clients on how to interpret the data produced.
We anticipate that MicroSilicon will grow rapidly, and we anticipate this position might evolve into world-wide Operations Manager. Currently, however, we are very lean so you will also need to be very adaptable and hands-on. Rig and field visits will be required, but when not in the field, you will help upgrade equipment, optimize the device for manufacturability, etc.
The equipment will be used to help optimize chemical management of the reservoir, so understanding of enhanced recovery, solvents, surfactants, dispersants, etc., will be a plus, in particular as it relates to scale, asphaltene or corrosion. Depending on your background and interest, you could also be tasked with other engineering upgrades such as communication networks; automation; predictive maintenance; RF noise reduction; etc.
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer or Chemical Engineering.
- 3-5 years oilfield experience post Batchelor degree or a directly applicable Master’s degree.
- Hands-on experience with basic electronic test equipment
